Catty Quiroz Moore (Right)

Catty Quiroz Moore swore in as Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools’ interim superintendent during a ceremony on Monday morning.

Currently a member of the North Carolina State Board of Education, Moore brings ample experience as a superintendent at other large school districts, including Durham Public Schools and the Wake County Public School System. She has won national and statewide superintendent of the year awards and was honored in 2023 with the state’s highest civilian honor, the Order of the Longleaf Pine.

In her introductory remarks, Moore lauded WS/FCS for the tireless efforts of its educators and its commitment to stakeholder engagement, equity, and continuously improving pedagogy. While she acknowledged that there are challenges ahead, she believes that WS/FCS has plenty to look forward to.

“I’m drawn to this district because of the forward-thinking work that has happened here in the last few years,” she said. “It is a privilege to be somewhere where we can unapologetically, and with purpose and strategy, focus on the needs of each individual child.”

Welcome to the team, Superintendent Moore!
