The Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools Board of Education has approved new district leaders. Samantha Fitzgerald is the new principal of Sherwood Forest Elementary and Angela Clark has been named Interim Chief Financial Officer.
Mrs. Fitzgerald has served as assistant principal at Lewisville Elementary School since 2016. She started her career in education as a teacher in Guilford County Schools in 2008. She joined WS/FCS in 2013 as a teacher at Middle Fork Elementary School. She was the WS/FCS PBIS coordinator from 2014 to 2016 before joining Lewisville Elementary, where she was honored as the Assistant Principal of the Year for Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools in 2019.
She earned a bachelor of arts in psychology along with her teaching licensure from Roanoke College in Salem, Virginia, and a master of arts in executive leadership studies from Gardner-Webb University.
Fitzgerald replaces Jacob Lowther, who is moving to Meadowlark Middle School as principal. She begins her new role on July 1.
Mrs. Clark is currently the director of accounting for WS/FCS. She has been with the district since 2009, having served at Union Cross Elementary School before joining central office in 2016. She has also held accounting positions with General Electric, Rowe Furniture, and Metal Works of High Point.
She has a bachelor of science in finance and insurance and a master’s degree in business administration from Appalachian State University.
Clark replaces Freida Lashmit, who has served as Interim Chief Financial Officer since May. Her contract expires June 30. Clark begins July 1.
