Tony Swider Scholarship Award picture

WS/FCS and The Winston-Salem Foundation surprised Brunson Elementary School art teacher Cynthia Sanders with a scholarship on Wednesday. The Penland School of Craft in Bakersville, NC, funds the Tony Swider Art Education Award through the Penland Endowment for Art Education at The Winston-Salem Foundation.  The award honors the memory of Antony “Tony” Swider, who served as both an art teacher and an arts administrator during his 40-year career, including 28 years with Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools.

The scholarship will enable Cynthia Sanders to attend a summer art class at Penland at no cost. Congratulations, Cynthia!
