The Board of Education adopted a new calendar for the 2026-2027 school year on Monday, December 22. View the staff and student calendars online.
The board originally adopted a traditional calendar, which had school beginning on August 24, 2026. At a specially called board meeting, board members voted to rescind that decision and instead adopt a modified start calendar, with the first day of school being August 10, 2026.
Teachers and families have expressed a preference for the modified start calendar, which allows the high schools to hold exams before the winter break. The traditional calendar complies with the state-mandated start date. Proposed legislation calls for financial penalties for school districts that do not comply with the law.
