The Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools Board of Education is inviting qualified Forsyth County residents to apply to serve on its Audit Advisory Committee. To be considered for a Board appointment, apply online by February 15. Details and the application are available online.

Committee Responsibilities

The newly-created Audit Advisory Committee will play a critical role in strengthening financial accountability by reviewing the district’s annual audit, making recommendations on any needed corrective actions, and assisting in the selection of an external auditing firm. The committee will meet at least four times a year, with a tentative start date of March 2026.

Membership Requirements

Applicants must be Forsyth County residents and have at least five years of experience in one or more of these areas: public accounting or finance; experience with audits of similar size and type of organization; risk management, business management, or legal compliance. Members may not be employed by WS/FCS or have business dealings with the district.

Appointment Process

Four members will be appointed by the Board of Education. Three members will be appointed by the Forsyth County Commissioners in a separate application process (see county website for application information). Members will serve for one- or two-year terms.

For questions about the application process, contact WS/FCS General Counsel Dionne Jenkins at (336) 727-2509 or DTJenkins@wsfcs.k12.nc.us.
