Aspiring Educator Day

Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools is inviting the educators of tomorrow to East Forsyth High School next month for guidance on how to start their careers in education during its Third Annual Aspiring Educator Day event.

On Saturday, April 11, the event will open up to adults throughout the community hoping to become teachers, administrators, support staff, and other key district roles. These jobseekers will be able to network and form immediate, high impact connections with potential future coworkers and supervisors. They’ll also participate in mock interviews, resume workshops, licensure support sessions, and professional development exercises.

Dr. Tina Lupton, Executive Director of Professional Learning for WS/FCS, says that Aspiring Educator Day is valuable for the broad swath of life experiences it brings together. Anyone can make a difference in the lives of students, but everyone takes a different path to get there, and charting your own course as an educator is much easier when you have a large support system to draw on.

“We’re taking steps to strengthen our different teacher pipelines and cultivate our next generation of educators,” Lupton said. “Giving them access to real people who have walked in their shoes is very influential and powerful for them.”

The Aspiring Educator Day event for jobseekers will be held on Saturday, April 11 from 8 am to 12:30 pm.

There will also be a student-focused event on Friday, April 10 from 9 am to 12 pm. About 100 students currently enrolled in Teacher Cadet and Teaching as a Profession curriculum will connect with resources that can offer them advice on working in a school system.
