The Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools Board of Education approved Elanda Walton’s promotion to serve as the new principal of Winston-Salem Preparatory Academy.
Walton currently serves as an assistant principal. She has more than 20 years of experience in education and participated in the district’s leadership program, LEAP, which is working to develop homegrown leaders to serve the district.
“Ms. Walton is an accomplished instructional leader. Since joining Winston-Salem Preparatory Academy in December 2021 as assistant principal of instruction, she has demonstrated a strong commitment to academic excellence, educator development, equitable student outcomes, and school improvement,” said Area Superintendent Kevin Spainhour.
Throughout her career, Walton has successfully led data-driven initiatives focused on improving student achievement, strengthening instructional practices, and expanding access to rigorous coursework. Prior to her current leadership role, she served as a curriculum facilitator and a high school English teacher.
She holds an Ed.S. in Educational Leadership and a master’s in Educational Administration from Grand Canyon University, and a bachelor’s in Secondary Education from Temple University.
