The competition was fierce, the laughs were loud, and our school spirit was stronger than ever. Our staff pulled off the win!
Our Gators cheered, ran the bases, and showed great sportsmanship the entire time. Events like this remind us how special our school community is—learning, laughing, and playing together.
It was a great way to reward our students for their hard work and positive behavior this quarter. Thank you to everyone who helped make this event so much fun.

We celebrated Black History Month with an afternoon and an evening full of powerful stories, joyful dancing, and uplifting music! This special event honored the rich history, culture, achievements, and contributions of Black leaders and communities—past, present, and future. Thanks to the organizing team and the amazing talent that they invited to share their traditions with our GATOR scholars! Did we mention there was dancing?
Ashley Academy welcomed State Representative Dr. Amber Baker, serving as Principal for the Day on Monday. It was an honor to have Dr. Amber Baker visit our classrooms and see the amazing work happening at Ashley Academy.
In anticipation of unsafe road conditions, WS/FCS school and district buildings will be closed on Monday, January 26 and Tuesday, January 27. All student activities, including afterschool programs, will be cancelled.
These will not be remote learning days. Students are encouraged to enjoy the winter weather if it is safe to do so, spend time reading, and complete regular homework.

Early dismissal at 12:50 today!
WS/FCS will dismiss two hours earlier on Monday, December 8. The exact dismissal time for each school can be found online at https://www.wsfcs.k12.nc.us/page/bell-schedules. This early dismissal will ensure students and staff can return home before road conditions become unsafe. Ashley Academy will dismiss at 12:50.

Ashley Academy celebrated positive behavior and a love of reading with its PBIS “Gator Festi-Fall” on Friday, October 31. This school-wide event recognized students for demonstrating the school’s GATOR expectations — Go Getter, Accountable, Trustworthy, On Task, and Respectful.
In addition to fun carnival and fall-themed activities and games, students took part in “Dress as Your Favorite Book Character Day,” highlighting the school’s commitment to literacy and creativity.
The event brought together students, staff, and Glenn High School and community volunteers for a joyful day that built school spirit and reinforced the positive behaviors that help all students succeed.

On October 28th, Ashley Academy students were invited to Wake Forest University’s vibrant Project Pumpkin event — and what a splash they made! Scholars explored the wonders of the sea through interactive activities, gathered sweet treats, and enjoyed a day filled with laughter, learning, and ocean-themed adventures. From candy-filled treasure hunts to discovering fascinating marine facts, it was a memorable experience that blended education with Halloween fun!
