WFIRM

Several Atkins HS students participated in the Wake Forest Institute for Regenerative Medicine (WFIRM) inaugural Public Day today at the Biotech Place in Innovation Quarter on Monday, June 9.  WFIRM is an ongoing partner of Atkins.

Atkins hosted a biotech table doing a hands-on activity with alginate lead by Josselyn Reyes-Miranda and Liv Harrington and a game design table with teacher Jeffrey Eidson-Rodgers. Other students assisted at the event, including Rachit Chandrakul, Reyansh Pol, Regen Med, along with faculty members Patricia Alfing, Marcus Neal, and Dr. Ellen Palmer.

"It was amazing to see our students not only talking to adults but teaching and explaining to them what they do and what we do.," Biotechnology teacher Terry Howerton said. "We are fortunate to be able to swim in this pool with WFIRM and to give these students such an experience."
