Sawyer Wemyss has known she wanted to be a teacher for most of her academic career, and her own teachers have been a constant source of inspiration. She’s invested a lot of time and effort into her teacher cadet classes at East Forsyth High School and even gave the keynote speech at a teacher cadet state conference. Now she’s off to the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, and she’s bringing along some indispensable firsthand experience.
“All of the teachers here have been very helpful,” Wemyss said. “It’s great because I can look at them and I might think ‘oh, that was a great lesson – let me steal that!’.”

Hello Seniors,
We are a week away from Graduation. This year, there is very little time between graduation practice and graduation. If you wait to clear your debt, you may not have much time. In order to help you, we will be collecting Chromebooks and Debt on Monday and Tuesday next week from 10:00-12:00. You can stop by and check/pay your debt. All student still owing debt by graduation practice will receive a final reminder and have until 6:00pm to return to school and pay that debt. Students with outstanding debt, must pay before their diploma is released.
Have a great evening,
Mr. Hall

Cambria McLaughlin will be studying biology at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte this fall. Inspired by complications she and her brothers experienced at birth, she’s always wanted to study medicine so she can help kids. East Forsyth High School has helped her earn her CNA and even given her hands-on experience working in hospice care. She especially credits Allied Health Teachers Amy Cave and Kelly Hooker for nurturing her interest in medicine.
“The teachers have been amazing,” McLaughlin said. “They’re super supportive and super helpful in encouraging you to pursue what you want to pursue without fear of failure… there are definitely a lot of people looking out for you around here.”
