Week of 12/16/24 Good Evening Konnoak Middle School families, faculty and staff. This is principal Gantt with one of your last weekly messages of 2024. This is our last week occupying this building before we start the second semester in our new building. The school building on 410 Haverhill St., right around the corner, will be ready for school on January 6, 2025. It is BEAUTIFUL! They have done a great job of providing a school that our scholars can be proud of. We are getting prepared by moving items from our current building to our new building. Staff will occupy the building starting on the teacher workday of Thursday 1/2/2025. Then on Friday, 1/3/2025 from 4-6, we will have our open house. Open House will be a time for each family to be toured around the building starting at 4:00pm and running every 20 minutes until 5:20. After your tour, please drop by to meet new second semester encore teachers and reconnect with core teachers. We look forward to seeing you there. We have 4 days for this week with no school to start winter break on Thursday. Please help us to finish strong by having your scholar here Monday through Thursday in attendance at school. We set a school goal of 90% attendance for the year. So far each month we are on track but the month of December does not look that way thus far. We need scholars here every day so we can grow them. Thank you for making that happen. We also have an official ribbon cutting coming on Jan 17th with more details to come in the new year. I apologize for you not receiving any of the last 3 weeks of messages and I hope this one works. The system has been down and we are working out how to get you the weekly messages again. We have 14 days left in our current building and then we will start on January 6th in our newly renovated building. We will have an open house on Friday, January 3, 2025 for all of our families to come and see our new building and reconnect with teachers and staff. It will occur from 4-6 pm. We will have tours of the new school every 15 minutes and then parents can visit classes if they desire. The main focus is touring the building. There are more details are to come. Report cards go home this week on Thursday so be on the lookout for those coming your way. Awards Day is this Friday during our encore times in the gym. If your scholar is receiving an award, their teacher/consultant will contact you and notify you. 6th grade awards start at 12:30 pm, 7th grade at 9:45 am and 8th grade at 8:00 am, all in the gym. Hear ye, hear ye! Chorus and Piano programs will be putting on a fall concert at 6 PM on Thursday, October 24th. Families and guests are invited to attend! Please come and support our musical scholars as they have been working hard! We have wrapped up our first semester fundraiser and need all scholars to turn in your monies. If you signed a box out, you owe the school $60. The fundraiser ended on Friday so please turn in all extra monies that you have yet to submit. If your child owes money, they will not be allowed to attend dances, athletic events or anything extracurricular. It can also prevent them from graduating high school as the balance will follow them.
