Math 8 Check-Ins will take place on Thursday of this week. Please make sure your scholar is rested and ready and at school! This is how we determine how learning has gone thus far. Volleyball has two games this week. The first is on Monday at Hanes and the second is Thursday at East Forsyth. All games start at 3:15. There were a lot of absences last week. If you have concerns with your scholar’s grades, please call and schedule a parent teacher conference as soon as possible. Thank you. Spooky season is here! If your scholar wants to dress up for Halloween that is allowed. They can wear face paint as well but no masks on the face. Here are the sports for the week. We are off to a start with girls volleyball. They have a game on Tuesday at WS Prep and Thursday at Mineral Springs. All games start at 3:15. See you there! Report cards go home this week on Thursday so be on the lookout for those coming your way. Awards Day is this Friday during our encore times in the gym. If your scholar is receiving an award, their teacher/consultant will contact you and notify you. 6th grade awards start at 12:30 pm, 7th grade at 9:45 am and 8th grade at 8:00 am, all in the gym. Hear ye, hear ye! Chorus and Piano programs will be putting on a fall concert at 6 PM on Thursday, October 24th. Families and guests are invited to attend! Please come and support our musical scholars as they have been working hard! We have wrapped up our first semester fundraiser and need all scholars to turn in your monies. If you signed a box out, you owe the school $60. The fundraiser ended on Friday so please turn in all extra monies that you have yet to submit. If your child owes money, they will not be allowed to attend dances, athletic events or anything extracurricular. It can also prevent them from graduating high school as the balance will follow them. Good Evening Konnoak Middle School families, faculty and staff. This is principal Gantt with your weekly message, so, here we go! Anyone need a free haircut? Cuts for Konnoak will take place on Wednesday of this week from 9-1. This is an opportunity for a free haircut for your scholar that attends Konnoak Middle School. The services are first come first serve and require a permission slip for a free haircut. Permission slips were sent home and we also have some in the front office. Please take advantage of this great service on Wednesday from 9-1. You can also see the flyer on our website. Attendance is so very important and our school has the most chronic absenteeism in the district. That is not something to be proud of. That means scholars at our school miss the most days of school out of any school in the district. We need your help! Please send your scholar to school each day ready to learn. It’s the law. That simple act controls how much he/she learns and grows in the school year. To encourage scholars to come, we have an ice cream party incentive as a nest competition. Let’s come everyday ready to learn. We will soon have giveaways for parents with scholars with the most improved attendance as well. Stay tuned! Tuvimos una maravillosa primera semana de clases y nos quedan 5 días menos y nos quedan 175 días maravillosos más. Los primeros 5 días los dedicamos a conocer a nuestros estudiantes. La próxima semana comienza nuestra primera semana de instrucción. Esta semana, los estudiantes aprenderán sobre el contenido y los estándares que los maestros han planeado para lograr la excelencia en el aula. Tendremos nuestra reunión de apertura para padres de Título I este jueves 22 de agosto de 2024 de 6:00 p.m. a 6:30. Ven y conoce qué fondos tenemos y cómo los utilizamos. También conocerá nuestro compromiso con usted, la comunidad a la que servimos. Una vez más, será el jueves a las 6:00 pm. Por favor ingrese por la parte trasera de la escuela. We had a wonderful first week of school and we are 5 days down with 175 more wonderful days to go. The first 5 days we spent getting to know our scholars. This coming week starts our first week of instruction. This week, scholars will be learning about the content and standards teachers have planned for excellence in the classroom. We will have our Title I Parent Opening Meeting on this Thursday, Aug 22, 2024 at 6:00 pm until 6:30. Come out and learn about what funding we have and how we use it. You will also learn about our commitment to you, the community we serve. Once again that is Thursday at 6:00 pm. Please enter from the rear of the school. This year we will have the School Health Alliance Sponsored by Atrium Health at our school two days a week. The services they offer are Well-Child Physicals, NC Health Assessments, Sports Physicals, Minor Illness and Injury Care, Nutrition, Vision and Hearing Screenings and Mental Health Counseling. They will be here the first and third Tuesday of each month from 8-3 pm in the rear of the school.
