Off to a Great Start

We have had a great first 2 weeks of school! Today we got together for our first Harambee of the 2024-25 school year. For those that are new to KP, Harambee is a Swahili word that means "all pull together", and is a time that we come together as a whole school and celebrate, do some cheers and chants, listen to a read aloud book, and recognize some students and staff members. Today's reader was Mrs. Gwyn, our principal. She read us the book The Story of You, written by Lisa Ann Scott and illustrated by Sue Cornelison.

Today's recognitions were:

Ms. April Gray - one of our kindergarten instructional assistants. She is new to our school this year and has hit the ground running. She was definitely brought to our school for a reason, and we have seen her work hard from the beginning. She is a great addition to our KP family!

Ms. Thresa Cole - one of our PreK instructional assistants. Mrs. Gwyn said that even though Ms. Cole may give some push back (in a loving way), she is always willing to do what is needed, and is also our hype person with her drum!

PreK: Cairo C. - He is helpful to his teachers and friends and has an A+ attitude towards learning.

Kindergarten: Zavian O. - He has been doing his writing independently this week and is doing a great job.

1st Grade: Adalynn A.C. - She has had significant improvement in her assessments from last year to this year!

2nd Grade: Lori H-P. - She has been following the SOAR expectations and being orderly in everything that she does: working well with others, coming to the carpet orderly, and participating and asking questions.

3rd Grade: Maliyah S. - She is always on task and working hard.

4th Grade: Josiah T. - He did great on his math assessment this week!

5th Grade: Rayshawn D. - He did a great job facilitating a small group in math this week and always has great manners in the breakfast and lunch line. All students listening to Mrs. Gwyn reading The Story of YouMrs. Sharpe stole the show on Ms. Cole's drum
