Graduates, we are almost there! Make sure you are checking your Remind, Canvas, and email daily for updates to graduation. The big things you must know for the next two weeks are:
Practice
Where: Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum
Parking/Entrance: Allegacy Lot
You do not need to wear your cap and gown to practice.
Procedure for the Day
Ms. Troxell or Ms. Brown will meet you at the entrance to direct you downstairs.
Report to the area behind the stage in your homeroom area.
Line up in the backstage area in alphabetical lines. YOU MUST CHECK IN WITH YOUR FACULTY LINE LEADER AT THIS TIME.
Festivities will conclude between 2:30-3:00pm. If you do not attend practice, YOU WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO WALK AT GRADUATION!!!
Graduation
When: Friday, May 29th
Graduates Arrive: 6:15am (downstairs by 6:30am) Ceremony begins: 8:00 am
Where: LJVM Coliseum
Parking: Allegacy/Pepsi. Remember to leave anything you will need to carry either in your car or with a friend or family member.
Graduates must be entering the LJVM Coliseum by 6:15 am to make it through the screening in time to line up. When you enter through the smoker’s patio entrance, be prepared for a W-S Police Officer to wand you.
What do I wear?
West Forsyth cap, gown, green-gold-white tassel, and official stole (the white scarf thing)
If you wear a button-down shirt, tie, and pants: Wear an ironed, long sleeve dress shirt. Wear a necktie. Wear ironed dress pants (black, brown, navy). Wear dress shoes or clean, solid black sneakers.
If you wear a dress/skirt: Your gown will count as a cardigan so you may wear strapless/spaghetti straps etc. Your dress/skirt should not come below the bottom of your gown (no long jumpsuits, midi dresses, or maxi dresses unless approved ahead of graduation). Wear dress shoes that have a back strap or an enclosed heel. The shoe may be flats or have a heel.
If you wear pants and a blouse: Wear ironed dress pants, a nice blouse, and dress shoes that have a back strap or enclosed heel. The shoe may be flats or have a heel.
Cords Students may ONLY wear: Laude cords - given by West Forsyth, West Forsyth High School honor society cords, Military - official enlistment (Army, West Point, etc) cord or stole, Crosby Scholars cords
What should I bring?
Plan on bringing no additional items into the Coliseum.
Will I get my diploma when I walk across the stage?
No. You will receive a diploma cover when you walk across the stage. Immediately following the ceremony, you will follow the junior marshals to where you will receive your actual diploma. Any disciplinary issues during the graduation ceremony will result in your diploma being taken back to West Forsyth.
Can I decorate my cap/gown?
Graduates MAY decorate their caps this year if they would like. 2D only and school appropriate
