Congratulations to Our First Two Caravan Leaders!
Congratulations to the recipients of our first two "Caravan Leader" awards, Nadra Hunte and Rhonda Robbins, who were our Teacher of the Year and Classified Employee of the Year last school year. The new Caravan Leader award was instituted this year "to recognize staff members for going above and beyond," said Principal Keisha Gabriel.
The two awards will be passed next to two recipients chosen by Hunte and Robbins, and will continue throughout the school year on a monthly basis.
Congratulations to them both!

The Atkins Dance Team had a successful UDA camp at Wake Forest this summer [July 21-24]! The team received a Superior rating on their team routine, multiple Superior ribbons on individual routines, and a Superior trophy for their overall performance at the camp. We also had two dancers audition and receive the honor of All-American: Senior Savannah Morgan, and Junior Hailey Perry. The team also received a trophy for "Most Improved" as well as the Super Spirit Stick on the last day of camp from Person High Drill Team. This camp experience helped us bond as a team, grow in our abilities, and gave us a wonderful start for the 25.26 school year! If you are interested in being a part of this amazing team, look for information regarding Fall Auditions August 27th- 29th in room 106, the Dance room. If you have any questions, please email coach Wright

The Board of Education recognized schools that earned Superior ratings at this year's Music Adjudication Performances during their latest meeting.
MPA is a performance test for band, chorus, and orchestra programs that gives teachers and students feedback and a rating, with Superior ratings as the highest achievement. Atkins, Diggs-Latham, Hanes, Lewisville Middle, Mount Tabor, Reagan, Walkertown High, and West Forsyth all earned the distinction this year. Eight music teachers accepted recognitions from the board on behalf of hundreds of students in their programs.
Congratulations to our district's many talented musicians!

Vardhan Ramanathan arrived at Atkins High School without a clear idea of what he wanted to do with his life. He was able to find himself through volunteer opportunities and school programs like the track team and the marching band. As he prepares to leave for New York to go to college, a National Merit Scholarship in tow, he’s grateful for the people he met and the activities he had access to that made it easier to understand what he really wanted.
“I’ve always enjoyed going to school because there are so many different opportunities, especially in public schools,” Ramanathan said. “You can join different clubs and meet a diversity of people, and that’s how I found my place.”
