Congratulations to the Atkins Math Team of 10 students who competed at Appalachian State Regional Math Contest yesterday at the "Comprehensive Level." The team came in first place with Johnathon Storrey as our team's top finisher.
The top eight competitors from all schools present were selected to move on to the state level of which Atkins took five spots. Johnathon Storrey, Eric Chen, Bella Yuan, Tony Jin, and Dylan Zhang will all be moving on to compete again later this month at NCSSM. Mathtastic job to our Calculating Camels! The Atkins Math team is coached by teacher Amanda Malatlian.
The Board of Education recognized Atkins, Hanes, and Diggs-Latham at their last meeting after they won Merit Awards from Magnet Schools of America for creating excellent student-centered learning environments. Congratulations to our wonderful magnet educators!

Atkins Men's Lacrosse defeats Bishop McGuinness
In men's lacrosse on Monday, February 24, Aidan Hernandez-Pena won many face-offs in row that led to game tying goals. The game ended regulation tied and in double overtime, Noah Hignite scored the game winning goal, defeating Bishop 12-11.
