The WSFCS Foundation has asked us to compile a wishlist of items for our school building, and they are looking for families and community partners to help donate directly to our building by selecting an item (or two) off the list to help brighten the faces of staff within the school. Staff members each added a few items to this list that they would personally like for their class spaces. If you are able to donate an item or two on our wishlist, we would greatly appreciate it. Lysol wipes, tissues, and pencils are always welcome too.

Congratulations to our Ravens who have successfully completed their end-of-year exams. Good luck to our eighth graders taking their Foreign Language and Math I exams this Monday and Tuesday.
Our final week is designed for students completing exams, receiving remediation, or retaking EOG state exams. All attending Ravens should come ready to engage with these focused academic lessons.
Please remember to send retesting forms with your child on Monday if you haven't submitted them yet. Let's finish strong! #RavenPride

WS/FCS’ aspiring authors were starstruck on Wednesday when they got to spend time learning more about their craft with Award-Winning Novelist Pam Muñoz Ryan. Learn more on our website at https://www.wsfcs.k12.nc.us/article/2216255.
#wsfcs

What does it take to engage over 250 sixth and seventh grade students? One of the world's leading Latina authors who spent the last six years crafting a new master piece. Pam Munoz Ryan spoke about the writing process, her own personal journey, her new book "El Nino", and spent time answering questions for our students. In fact several of our students who attended today will win autographed copies of "El Nino". EFMS is so grateful that we were able to host Pam Munoz Ryan and have copies of the book donated for these prizes. This is all thanks to our generous partner, Bookmarks in Winston.
If families wish to connect with this author, there is an event this afternoon at Bookmarks at 4 p.m.

Tomorrow (Thursday, May 15), we will be completing end of year science testing. For our eighth grade students, this is an EOG exam. Sixth and seventh grade students will be taking district exams. Students are reminded to arrive on time and use their test taking strategies to ensure success on this content area exam.

All of our sixth grade students as well as select seventh grade students have been given a once in a lifetime opportunity to meet the legendary author, Pam Munoz Ryan. Students must return signed permission forms to their homeroom teachers in order to attend. Additional copies of the permission form can be found at https://5il.co/3f7sa
We are so grateful to Bookmarks in Winston, NC for their support in making this happen, and we are looking forward to welcoming this renowned author into the Ravens' Nest on Wednesday, May 14.

Next week, all of our EFMS Ravens will be beginning their end of year exams. We know each of our students has the ability to show growth. While one test can never completely show what a student has learned and is capable of doing, we know these tests are important times for students to do their best. The first step to success is showing up on time for the exams. The full schedule can also be found at https://www.wsfcs.k12.nc.us/o/efms/page/eog-and-eoc-info
