Good Afternoon . As a reminder, today is the last day to request bus transportation for the 2025-2026 School Year. Be certain to complete a request by 5:00pm today. All requests submitted for CURRENT Hanes students have been submitted for approval. Approval will occur over the summer. Any student who does not have a bus request submitted by today at 5:00pm will have to wait until September 2, 2025 to receive a bus assignment.

PAGE (Parents and Advocates for Gifted Education) is a not for profit, community-based advocacy group. See their monthly newsletter for useful resources. Partners for the Advancement of Gifted Education (PAGE) Foundations and Purposes 1---PAGE depends on parent-school partnerships that stem from active and on-going involvement of parents with teachers. 2---PAGE seeks to foster student growth at school and at home by tapping community resources, both human and financial. 3---PAGE helps families of gifted students identify and utilize educational resources and opportunities, in school and out. This is especially critical for families which are under-represented in gifted and advanced placements due to economic disadvantage or racial disparity. 4---PAGE encourages families of gifted students to be informed about learning opportunities appropriate for their children, whether those opportunities are found at school, elsewhere in the community, or on-line. PAGE also focuses on orienting new students and their parents to AIG or HAG. 5---PAGE promotes equity for all gifted students by collaborating with community-based organizations, businesses, and foundations in order to enable every student to reach her/his potential. *Become a member of Forsyth County PAGE today by emailing forsythcopage@gmail.com. We don’t believe advocacy and resources for the gifted should cost money, so membership is free. We appreciate and accept donations that will assist us in providing our community with events such as speakers, monthly newsletters, and other educational opportunities. When you become a member of Forsyth County PAGE… o You will receive invitations to events such as speakers that are members-only. o You will have access to local and national resources. o Most Importantly- It shows your collaboration with other parents of gifted children and your support for teachers of the gifted in your child's school.

The Bus Stop Request deadline for the 2025-2026 school year is Friday, May 30th! All changes and updates must be made at the current school before May 30th. All 8th grade students who will be promoted to 9th grade must have changes made with Hanes Magnet Middle School to ensure they have a bus stop for the 25-26 school year. If you have already submitted a transportation request for a current Hanes Magnet Middle School student, the request has been updated for approval. Approval will occur over the summer. If you have not yet submitted a transportation request for a current Hanes Magnet Middle School student, you may come to Hanes Magnet Middle School on Tuesday or Wednesday of this week to complete a transportation request in person. WS/FCS Transportation is working to find coverage but the bus may be delayed up to 90 minutes. We are asking parents to pick their students up this afternoon who ride Bus 924 or Bus 496 to reduce wait times. Thank You.

Due to many high school graduations happening today, we are experiencing a shortage in bus drivers.  Our transportation department is working to find a driver for Bus #223.  Unfortunately, if Bus #223 is unable to drive their regular route, it will be up to 60 minutes later than the scheduled time when they arrive.  If possible, we encourage families to bring students to school.  We apologize for this inconvenience.  If families can transport their child, it would greatly help reduce time away from school.  Thank you again for all your support and patience as we finish the school year.

The Board of Education recognized schools that earned Superior ratings at this year's Music Adjudication Performances during their latest meeting. MPA is a performance test for band, chorus, and orchestra programs that gives teachers and students feedback and a rating, with Superior ratings as the highest achievement. Atkins, Diggs-Latham, Hanes, Lewisville Middle, Mount Tabor, Reagan, Walkertown High, and West Forsyth all earned the distinction this year. Eight music teachers accepted recognitions from the board on behalf of hundreds of students in their programs. Congratulations to our district's many talented musicians! #wsfcs

For our 8th Grade Students/Parents/Families, please consider participating in our SMOD (Standard Method Of Dress) Closet Donation Drive at Hanes Magnet Middle School. We are seeking donations of gently used SMOD attire. If you would like to participate, collect clean, in-good-condition SMOD clothing items. Have your student bring donations to the main office or their homeroom teacher. Students who donate at least three SMOD items will be eligible for a special dress down day on Thursday, May 22nd during the 8th Grade Picnic. Important Reminder: This donation opportunity is EXCLUSIVELY for 8th-grade students. By donating, you'll help support our school community and provide resources for students who may need additional clothing support.

Good Morning. Be advised that all submitted bus requests for CURRENT Hanes students have been updated for approval. Approval will occur over the summer. Any bus request submitted for a student NOT CURRENTLY enrolled at Hanes has not been updated; parents will need to reach out to their students’ CURRENT school to request a bus for next year. Bus requests for 2025-2026 are due by May 30th.

On Friday, May 23, 2025, Hanes Magnet Middle School administration and staff cordially invite you to the 8th Grade Recognition Ceremony. This event will take place at Simon G. Atkins High School located at 3605 Old Greensboro Road. The 8th Grade Wolfpack Team will start their ceremony at 8:30am. The 8th Grade Pirates Team will start their ceremony at 10:00am. The 8th Grade Aggies Team will start their ceremony at 11:30am. This will be a ticketed event; students will receive 4 (four) tickets. Students MUST pay their student fees in order to receive their tickets. We hope you are able to join us to celebrate your students’ continued success. Hanes Magnet Middle School warmly invites our rising 6th Grade students to our 6th Grade 101 Information Session. Parents, families, and students will get to meet 6th grade and Encore teachers and staff, purchase PE uniforms ($25), receive summer math resources, learn about athletic teams, attend a SMOD re-sale event, and purchase Dragon Spirit Wear!
