Tune in to WBFJ tomorrow morning at 7:05am to hear one of our students say the pledge of allegiance with his AAC device on the radio. He has been working so hard each day at saying the pledge for our class, and now he can share it with all of Winston Salem on the radio.
WBFJ (radio station 89.3FM) will play the recording at 7:05am and again at 9:30am. We are so proud of our student and thankful for this opportunity!

Just to be cautious with the forecast of possible inclement weather, we are rescheduling the PTO meeting on Preschool to Kindergarten Transitions planned for Tuesday evening this week. The meeting has been rescheduled for Tuesday, February 25, at 5:30.


We celebrated the 100th day of school!! Look at us count to 100! What an amazing year it has been already.









On February 13, 2025, The Special Children's School will be hosting an Open House for rising kindergarten students. New families are welcome to stop by between 8-12 and explore our kindergarten classroom. We will also be offering tours of our school. Due to expected freezing temperatures overnight, and a slippery commute for buses, students drivers, families, and employees, , WS/FCS will be closed to staff and students , Tuesday, January 7.
Based on current conditions, a delayed start will not help which is why the closure has been called.


No school January 6th 2025, due to weather conditions.


Tomorrow is the last day of the BOOK FAIR! Please be sure to stop by and make your purchases by the end of the day.


Next week is Spirit Week in celebration of October Bully Prevention. Please help us celebrate by participating.(See flyer) October is also Down Syndrome Awareness Month so on Friday the 25th we are combining both and will be wearing Down Syndrome Awareness shirts and Cray Socks!



The Scholastic Book Fair is here!! There is a preview sale this Saturday 11-1 during Trunk or Treat. All books are located in our cafeteria. Families are invited to come and purchase books during school hours starting Saturday thru November 1st.


Don't forget you are invited to attend Trunk or Treat 2024 at The Special Children's School Saturday, October 19th between the hours of 11-1. This is a free and safe alternative Halloween celebration for our students and families. We are excited to see you tomorrow!!!

The Mount Tabor Cadets joined our school age PE classes yesterday. The class is practicing for Special Olympics Bowling and the students from Mount Tabor helped our students work on their bowling skills.

Due to weather events Open House has been cancelled for this evening. Classroom staff will be off campus for training on Friday, August 9th. However, the school will be open Saturday August 10th, from 10-2 for parents to stop by and pick up/drop off paperwork.
