Wiley Magnet Middle School invites all incoming 6th grade students and their families to 6th Grade Orientation on August 6th from 12:00 PM–2:45 PM. Families will attend during their assigned time (mailed invitation) to meet teachers, tour the school, learn important back-to-school information, and help students prepare for a successful transition to middle school. The event will be held at 1400 W. Northwest Blvd., Winston-Salem, NC 27104.
Wiley Magnet Middle School invites students, families, and community members to its Open House on August 6th from 5:00 PM–7:00 PM. This is a floating event, allowing guests to arrive at any time during the event.

Back-to-School Transportation Information: Families needing bus transportation should contact their child's school if a bus stop is not already assigned in the Parent Portal. New transportation requests will begin processing in September, and students must receive a boarding pass before riding the bus. Families are encouraged to download the Edulog Bus App to access their student's bus route and stop information. Information is available in both English and Spanish.
Wiley Magnet Middle School is inviting eligible students to participate in Fall Sports Tryouts from August 17–20. Tryouts will be held daily from 3:15 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Get ready for an exciting educational adventure! Wiley Middle School's 2026–2027 8th Grade Class will travel to Washington, D.C., March 3–5, 2027, for a memorable three-day, two-night experience.
Students will have the opportunity to visit world-renowned Smithsonian museums, explore historic monuments and memorials, tour the U.S. Capitol, and experience many of our nation's most important landmarks. This trip is designed to enhance classroom learning while creating lasting memories with classmates and teachers.
The approximate cost of the trip is $475. Payment plans and fundraising opportunities will be available to help make participation accessible for all interested students.
Additional information, registration details, and fundraising opportunities will be shared in August. We look forward to providing our students with this exciting educational experience!

🎓 Wiley Middle School invites families and friends to celebrate the Class of 2026 during the 8th Grade Promotion Ceremony on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, at 11:00 AM in the RJ Reynolds Auditorium. The event honors students’ achievements as they take the next step toward high school and future success.
Parents can access student test scores through the Infinite Campus Parent Portal. Testing begins with the Reading EOG on May 13, followed by the Math EOG and Math 1 on May 14, and the Science EOC on May 15, 2026.
Wiley Magnet Middle School proudly celebrates winning 1st Place in the All-County Track Meet! Students and staff came together to honor an incredible season of hard work, teamwork, determination, and school pride. Congratulations to all of the athletes and coaches for representing Wiley with excellence and bringing home the championship trophy!
This is the Wiley Magnet Middle School End-of-Grade (EOG) testing schedule for the 2025–2026 school year. It outlines when students in grades 6–8 will take their required state exams (Math, Reading, Science, and Math I EOC), along with designated days for incentives, reteaching, retesting, and make-up testing.
Mental Health Awareness Spirit Week (May 4–8) encourages students and staff to show support through themed dress-up days:

Wiley Magnet Middle School is seeking volunteers to serve as EOG test proctors from May 12–May 26, 8:00 AM–11:30 AM. Community members can sign up for one day or multiple days using the provided link. The flyer is available in both English and Spanish to encourage broad participation.

Please note there has been a time change for the 8th Grade Promotion Ceremony. The ceremony will now take place at 11:00 AM at RJ Reynolds Auditorium on May 20.
Wiley Middle School celebrated its 100th anniversary last week with a special program at Reynolds Auditorium. Students performed songs and dances, former principals told their stories, Former Miss America Nia Franklin sang the Star-Spangled Banner, and North Carolina Music Hall of Famer Ben Folds discussed the impact Wiley had on his career as an artist. The night was a strong endorsement of the long-lasting benefits of a good education with WS/FCS.
“I had a really, really great band teacher. His name was Chick Shelton, and he’s the one that the band room is named after now,” Folds said of his time at Wiley. “I just had a really great two years here.”

The Board of Education recognized eight magnet schools who earned grants and awards for their innovative programming during their meeting on Tuesday night.
Brunson Elementary School, Winston-Salem Preparatory Academy, Wiley Middle School, and Flat Rock Middle School all received Burroughs Welcome Grants for creating projects that foster inquiry-based learning, support for teachers, and hands-on enrichment for students.
Atkins High School, John F. Kennedy High School, The Downtown School, and Reynolds High School all won national merit awards from Magnet Schools of America. Well done, magnet schools!
